Govt in crisis over nuke deal

Where is the Nuclear Deal going? That is one question even the Indian Govt. can not answer. I saw the coverage about Nuke Deal on NDTV 24 *7. The coverage was crisp and insightful. I will share a few of points which would summarize the current scenario.

The options before the government now are:
  • The Prime Minister can resign
  • Or the government stands firm on the deal, which means it will fall and there will be fresh elections
  • Or both sides will buy time to evolve middle ground.
In Parliament, the UPA has a strength of 226, but together with the Left, BSP and SDF that number goes upto 304.

Without the Left, it comes down to 245. If Left withdraws support, the UPA is 27 seats short of majority.

I don't think political parties think about India's benefit while they take a stand. According to me the bottomline is to oppose the ruling party.
